AN IMPORTANT NOTE FOR ALL SURGICAL PROCEDURE PATIENTS
Although this was a minor procedure, there is still a chance of complications. Some bleeding may occur. Apply pressure with a piece of gauze or facial tissue for a full 10 minutes. Call the office if the following occurs:
- Swelling at or around the site
- Heat around the site
- Redness or red streaks around the site
- Pus or oozing from the site
- Severe pain that cannot be controlled by Tylenol
SHAVE BIOPSY
- Do not wet area for the first 24 hours.
- Clean area daily with soap and water with each shower.
- Keep the area dry and clean. Apply bandage, if necessary, to keep clean, otherwise, letting the wound have air is good.
- Take Tylenol for pain, if necessary.
EXCISION OR PUNCH BIOPSY
- Do not wet the area for the first 24 hours
- Clean area daily with soap and water with each shower.
- Keep the area dry and clean. Apply bandage, if necessary, to keep clean, otherwise, letting the wound have air is good.
- Take Tylenol for pain, if necessary.
- Do not forget to return for a wound check appointment as instructed.
All patients are called with biopsy or excision results as soon at they are received. If you do not hear from us within 2 weeks, please call our office at (949) 646-7546.
